Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Srilankan Students

Islamabad, 91 Sri Lankan students has been given Allama Iqbal Scholarship by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for the Fall-2020-Spring-2021 sessions for the study in universities of Pakistan. The program is under Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation.

Scholarship holder students have started to arrive in Pakistan and till now, 27 students have come in the Sukkur, Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad to join their corresponding universities.

Total 525 Sri Lankan student applied for the BS, MS, PhD programs in the Medical and Engineering disciplines, for the admission in Fall 2020/Spring 2021.

Online interviews were conducted by selection board, of the officials by HEC Pakistan, University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka and Pakistan High Commission (PHC) Colombo. Shortlisted for interview candidates were 172, from which 91 students were successfully selected.

In last five years, nearly 1000 Sri Lankan students have come Pakistan by Allama Iqbal Scholarship and get degrees of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs in Social Sciences, Engineering Sciences and Basic and Natural Sciences.

The main purpose of the scholarship is to exchange and promote learning and understanding of cultures and traditions between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Allama Iqbal Scholarship are the step taken by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for encourage of international students to come Pakistan for the study.
